The CISF full form is Central Industrial Security Force. In 1969, the government established it with a meager three battalions to offer integrated security cover to specific critical public sector businesses. This force has since expanded, and now employs 1, 63,590 highly trained specialists.
At present, the CISF is responsible for the security of 352 different locations across the country. The CISF’s Fire Wing helps with those 104 businesses.
Nuclear reactors, space stations, ports, airports, power plants, and other essential services in India are all protected by the Central Industrial Security Force. The CISF also safeguards the Delhi Metro system, along with other government buildings and historic landmarks. The CISF’s VIP Security division is dedicated to providing around-the-clock protection to high-profile individuals.
After the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, CISF’s remit was expanded to include providing protection for private business buildings. The CISF’s security consulting services are in high demand, thus the agency offers them to private companies as well.
When it comes to the quality of its employees and the cutting-edge technology it uses to increase security, the CISF has extremely high expectations for itself. The CISF has the resources and training to effectively counter any terrorist threat. The force has made it a point to transform and modernize in response to the ever-shifting security landscape of the country.
