MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) Course

Introduction: All the dentists who have completed their BDS – Bachelors of Dental Surgery, and wish to continue their education, should go for MDS course. MDS full form is Master of Dental Surgery. This master level education will be very helpful for you to gain more knowledge and also to perform more complicated dental surgeries. There are many specializations as well, like crowing, Prosthodontics and Bridge, Conservative Dentistry Periodontology, Orthodontics and Oral Medicine, Endodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Radiology. So, you will be able to choose something that interests you the most. 

The MBS course is two to three years long. After your complete your BDS, if you wish to get into MDS, then it is a three years course and if you have done any diploma in dental surgery after BDS, then you can get admission directly into the second year of MDS course. 

MDS Course Eligibility Criteria:

  • You should have completed your 10+2 standard course with good marks. You should have Biology as one of the main subjects in your 12th standard.
  • You should have completed your BDS course with at least 55 percent aggregate marks. 
  • You should make sure that you are clearing the NEET MDS exam for getting admission in one of the best colleges in India. 
  • If you are not an Indian, then you will have to obtain a temporary registration that is given by the Dental Council of India. 
  • You should be at least 21 years old for applying for the MDS course in India.
