This learning programme is offered in specific merchant navy universities and colleges. It is an in-depth study of different topics included in marine engineering. Some of them are- Marine Electrotechnology, Electrical Lab, Boilers, Electric laboratory etc.
Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in relevant fields such as mechanical & automation engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, or marine engineering is the bare minimum educational qualification required. The candidate must have received at least 60 percent of the total possible points in the B.E. or B.Tech. program. The minimum aggregate marks required by each college may differ from one another.
When applying, a candidate's age cannot be more than 28 yrs old during enrollment.
For a candidate to be eligible for admission, he or she must meet the physical and medical requirements established by the Department of General Services (DGS). The very first and most important step is to register. Candidates must then show up for a basic qualifying examination, aptitude test, or entrance exam following their registration. A test of this nature would include subjects such as English, technical questions (domain-specific), and so on.
Candidates who pass the preliminary test will be invited to participate in the panel question and answer session stage of the process. The interview is conducted to assess the candidate's overall personality and aptitude. After the panel interview, there will be a physical & medical examination.
The medical exam will be performed by a doctor who has been approved by DGS. The last merit list would be compiled based on the results of these tests. Here on basis of their points total in the merit list, deserving candidates will be admitted to the program in which they have applied.
The cost of GME courses varies from one institution to another. On typical, it could be anything from 250K to 400K each year, depending on the position.

Because of the risks involved and the difficulty of the job, marine engineers are frequently offered generous compensation packages. The annual income package for a GME Graduate may begin as low as 5.5 L per year, depending on their level of experience, the industry in which they work, and the position they hold.
Candidates interested in entering the Merchant Navy will benefit from this course because it provides them with a direct route to do so. This career is also beneficial to those who wish to pursue a career in this sector of navy as engineer officers, either crew on board or off the coast of the United States. A student may also be able to obtain a sponsor for their training program through colleges if they complete this course.
This curriculum is an extended version of mechanical engineering principles as they are applied to marine systems and structures. The significant proportion of mechanical engineering subjects, like engine study, steam turbine testing, and so on, will be a piece of cake for mechanical engineering students to take on as well.
Career choices for marine engineers not only are restricted to on-board positions but also include a variety of other positions such as:
Some of the most important preparation tips for candidates interested in pursuing a degree in Graduate Marine Engineering include:
Graduates in Marine Engineering are in high demand in both the public and private sectors, with employment opportunities available in both. The (STCE) is required for graduates who wish to meet the criteria as expert marine engineers for the Navy to be selected also as class IV officials.
