To promote education within the state, certain schemes & policies have been regulated by the Nagaland Education Mission Society under the government.Looking at the literacy rate, the state has a total of 79.55% of literacy rate. Apart from that, it secured 15th position in the country for the best education system. In Nagaland, the literacy rate among the female population is 76.11%, while 82.75% of the male population as per Census 2011.
Students from the other states and out of states are cordially invited here to be a part of higher and secondary education in top-notch colleges, private institutes and schools of the state.In 2019, the state shared a report which shows that there are a total of 730 authorized schools in Nagaland.
Apart from private and public schools, there are 67 colleges and 16 private institutions in several districts of the state. The main objective of these educational institutions is to impart education in several specialized and regular disciplines. According to the University Grant Commission, the state also has four universities, of which three are private and one is a central university.
Here, from government institutions to private colleges, all have been facilitating good learning of higher education through eminent professors and teachers.Education regulatory bodies and governments have been repeatedly working to grow the education standards by implementing various programs and schemes.
The education accommodations in the state are highly equipped with internet connections, computer labs, modern labs, gears, hostels, canteens, a library, and other facilities. Not only that, even the government is offering compulsory and free education to children under the age of 14 in Nagaland. People option for any course in the state have been imparting education in the English Language, as the medium of communication in all educational institutes is English.
The well-known colleges in Nagaland are NIT Nagaland, Immanuel College, Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, others. All institutes are offering hands-on training and years of experience so that they can do well in their upcoming jobs. In addition, they promote skill-based courses like diplomas, computer courses, polytechnic courses, more. Some new colleges and institutes are also under construction and soon to promote all types of courses.
The state also has Nagaland University which falls under the NIRF Rank band of 151 to 200 as per the NIRF Report. Various Colleges in Nagaland impart training in various domains such as social science, medicines, arts, science, and many others. A professional course like law, BEd course is also offered within the state. Some teaching colleges are Salt, Christian College of Teacher Education, State College of Teacher Education, etc.
Another popular institute called National Research Centre was established in 1988 in the state of Nagaland. Under the Council of Agricultural Research, the institute teaches its students about friendly technologies and scientific research regarding plants their species. The institute is popular for streams like Agriculture, Science and Veterinary Science under the respective course like B.V.Sc, M.V.Sc, and M.Sc. For research and agriculture training, this is one of the best institutes in India.
Over the years, the state is rapidly working towards enhancing the quality of skill-based education. There are various newly developed polytechnic colleges within the state. Some of them include Government Polytechnic Aboi, Government Polytechnic Wokha. The talented and intelligent students are also rewarded with scholarships every year.
The state also promotes teacher training courses to train teachers on how to educate students effectively. Nagaland is constantly on focusing developing such courses and institutes. These institutes are the District Institute of Education and Training, Bosco College of Teacher Education, Nagaland College of Teacher Education.
Nagaland is considered to be one of the literate states to opt. for quality and decent education. From the state level colleges, the students are not hired within the state by popular companies but also offered higher salary packages at the international level.
