The state has a leading university namely Mizoram University. It is one of the noble universities in India offering a wide-ranging of courses at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctorate level. It has been accredited Grade 'A'by NAAC. The university secured a position in the top 100 universities across India for the years 2016 to 2019.
More than 30 colleges are affiliated with Mizoram University. This university is ranked as 67th place in the category of universities for NIRF 2020. It is a public institution of higher education in Aizawl and is recognized by the UGC & the AICTE. It offers programmes in Information Science, Management, Economics, Mass Communications, Earth Sciences and Natural Resources, Medical and Paramedical Science, Fine Arts, Humanities, Engineering. Besides this, it offers certificates, diplomas and executive programmes.
