Under the Societies Act, the Som-Lalit Education & Research Foundation is officially recognised as a trust. The Trust's educational initiatives first got rolling on August 12, 1996. The Trust's numerous institutes currently provide various courses.

This Institute, situated as it is within the University, serves as a link between the commercial and academic communities, and it provides a training ground for the managers of the future of the 21st century.
