National Law University, popularly known as NLUO, was established in the year 2009 in Cuttack in Odisha state. It is a state-level university that is authorized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is a newly found university that aims to offers courses like BA LLB ( Hons) and BBA LLB ( Hons) at Undergraduate Level, LLM at Postgraduate level, and Ph.D. and M.Phil at Doctorate level. All these courses are approved by the BCI (Bar Council of India).
The university has been ranked 14th for the law by Outlook in 2019 and ranked 6th and 14th for Law by India Today and the NIRF respectively in the year 2020. Although the campus has installed 15 centers namely Centre for Banking & Insurance Laws, Centre for Child Rights, Centre for Women & law centers, Centre for Maritime Law, Centre for Natural Resource Management, and among others.
